HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT

In a rapidly changing job market, human resource management has never been more strategic for the sustainability and performance of organizations. This assessment encompasses all facets of management related to employee training, development, engagement, and recruitment. Resistance to change following the implementation of a new system, certain weaknesses in organizational culture, departmental restructuring, the creation of an organizational chart, and the attraction and retention of staff are among the topics addressed. In a context marked by the rise of remote work, diversity and inclusion, and the evolving expectations of new generations of workers, students will have to develop their solutions while ensuring effective communication between franchises, unions, employers, and employees. These factors will be crucial to the success of the proposed solution, which must be based on both a human and strategic approach.

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPEMENT

As environmental, social, and governance (ESG) imperatives become essential performance criteria, sustainable development is now central to the strategy of responsible organizations. This challenge focuses on a company's responsibilities in social, economic, and environmental terms. The issues revolve around both the implementation of new projects and the management of ethical situations, where every stakeholder must be considered, whether it concerns equity, diversity and inclusion, community engagement, or social justice. In a context where climate challenges, ESG regulations, and societal expectations are intensifying, teams will be required to propose concrete and realistic solutions aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), while also taking into account the organization's economic imperatives. The aim is to develop solutions that meet future needs, keeping in mind the three "P's": profit, planet, and people.

Far from being merely rhetorical, the debate demands a mastery of current Canadian affairs, rigorous analytical thinking, and the ability to construct, defend, and refute arguments under pressure. ENTREPRENEURSHIP

In a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem, creativity, viability, and the ability to persuade are the keys that separate promising ideas from those that change the world. Inspired by the globally successful American series Shark Tank and its Quebec adaptation, Dans l'œil du dragon (Dragon's Den), this challenge focuses on creativity, originality, and innovation. The challenges of entrepreneurship often revolve around funding and generating value in a context of limited resources. Students will have to develop a solid business model, demonstrate originality, and employ strategy to convince angel investors to invest in their project. Comprised of two rounds, teams must first present their elevator pitch to secure a hypothetical budget, and then develop a comprehensive implementation plan to be presented in the second round.

INTERACTIVE

Because real business challenges can't be solved in silos, this interactive case study immerses participants in an experience that simulates the complexity and intensity of the real business world. The challenge consists of two parts: research and problem-solving. The research phase, which takes place before and during the problem-solving phase, encourages participants to learn about potential partners and industry trends, allowing them to develop their recommendations further. The problem-solving phase lasts twenty-four (24) hours and focuses on an issue affecting all areas of business administration: finance, marketing, strategy, accounting, human resources, operations and logistics, international trade, and much more. Participants must have extensive knowledge, be creative, and, above all, be able to react quickly to unforeseen events, as the first half of the problem-solving phase is punctuated by interactions that provide new information, potentially leading the team to completely revise its strategies. The key is to anticipate the unpredictable.

CONSULTING MANDATE

Some cases deserve more than just a night's sleep. This challenge requires preparation before the competition: shortlisted participants receive the case approximately one month in advance, allowing them to utilize all available resources to develop a thorough analysis and professional-quality recommendations. However, the use of paid external services is strictly prohibited. This case may highlight any of the disciplines covered by the competition—management, marketing, strategy, finance, or any other aspect of business administration—or combine several. The recommendations must demonstrate a deep understanding of the partner company and its sector, and showcase the realism and rigor of the proposals.

PARTICIPATION

This year, the participation component focuses on three key strengths: influence, creativity, and teamwork. Three simple yet meaningful words that will guide our every action. Influence is the ability to showcase our delegation, to make a lasting impression, and to contribute to the overall atmosphere of the Games. This is what will allow us to leave a strong mark, both in the competitions and in the overall experience. Creativity is the power to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary. This is what will allow us to reinvent ideas, presentations, and even interactions with boldness and imagination. Teamwork is the collective energy we bring to every moment. It's collaboration, mutual support, cohesion, and the sincere desire to build something great together. It's thanks to this spirit that powerful moments come to life and memories take root.

CONTRIBUTION

The 2027 edition puts people at the heart of its Contribution component. More than just a philanthropic initiative, this component aims to create meaningful connections between delegations and the community. The actions undertaken must foster concrete engagement, leave a lasting positive impact, and demonstrate that every gesture can contribute to real change. The organization chosen for the 39th edition of the Jeux du Commerce is the Centre for Emotional Intelligence Online (CIEL). CIEL's mission is to raise awareness among young people about the challenges of the digital world and to promote healthy and balanced screen use. To achieve this, the organization offers prevention workshops in schools, conferences, as well as awareness and consultation activities for young people and families, and is even beginning to reach the corporate world.
